Join Carolyn Webb of North Adams Massachusetts for a fascinating talk on historical and vintage knitting.
Carolyn has been a lifelong knitter and lover of textiles. She has a large collection of vintage knitting tools, magazines, booklets, books, and vintage pieces of knitting and crochet that will be on display during her talk.
Did you know that were it not for sock knitters many of the wars America has been involved in could have been lost? Knitting has gone from an essential skill for survival to hot pants and beyond. Learn about America’s knitters and have a look at how this fascinating craft came to America and how it has evolved over time.
If you have a piece of vintage knitting or crochet, please bring it to share its history. We will have snacks, and there is a bar for anyone interested in a beverage, other than water or coffee.
This is part of the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Village Yarn Shop. Saturday the Shop will be open from 9-1 and then we will go to the American Legion for the presentation. We will be having some drawings and giveaways on Saturday. Stop in and see us before the event.
